The Monteperle Vineyard is located in the Lyndoch sub-region of the Barossa Valley. Grapes from this area are highly regarded for making premium age worthy wines.
Barossa’s 2019 wines will be sought out early, following the lowest yielding but possibly the highest quality vintage of the past decade. After a very dry winter and spring, frost disrupted budburst and flowering. This was followed by hot, very dry conditions with 11 days over 35C in January. The lower yields will result with great colour, intense flavours and firm tannin structure.
Ruby red and colour, the nose shows strawberry, raspberry, and cherry aromas. Underlying toasty oak and dark Spice with cinnamon add complexity and depth to the aromas. The palate is showing some sweet raspberry fruit with vanilla notes. Soft and supple and round in the mid palate with a gentle long finish of berry and coffee flavours.
